I, switched : Linux Mint.

Finally, after so much of struggles on “making it work”, so much of fixing, google, forum, stack overflow. I finally switched from Arch Linux (Manjaro) to Debian Linux (Mint). I switched from arch to mint due to bugs on the manjaro distro i used. From lockscreen to google chrome to Bluetooth, i was tired to fix everything and decided to switch. Also from Mr. Robot series (the main character uses linux mint).

Since it’s very new, I can’t comment much on it, I don’t go for look or fancy look on the GUI, even for this install i went with mate edition.

After some serious consideration, i plan to switch my Linux Desktop Environment from KDE to XFCE. I posted some time ago about moving from Ubuntu to arch and use KDE as my Desktop Environment but after almost a year of use, i am pretty much qualified to give out my opinion. KDE is feature rich and pretty to look at but when it comes to the way i use my machines (which is programming), RAM is very important and KDE is a resource HOG in my opinion.

I faced some serious lag on the UI when re-login back to Dekstop where the graphic crash and everything reloaded and when running Android Studio, the whole machines just stop working. After so much of struggles, i decided to give XFCE a try. Let’s see how it goes.

Linux – Not Always Stable

Finally, settled with Arch Linux distro based on KDE desktop environment. I am super happy with the customization that i did with this Desktop Environment. Gnome is good, but i am bored with it. 🙂

Out from the comfort zone!

After years using Mac OS X, now i am moving to linux and pure linux this time. Running Elementary OS Freya on my 2011 macbook pro. Such a minimal distro i would say!

I know, Mac OS X based on Unix which isn’t much different compared to Linux, but moving away from Mac OS X takes away so much of useful functionalities and the main one is multi finger gesture on the track-pad.

There are so much more but this is it for now. 😀
